Thai Women Deceived to Work in Dubai Thanks Deputy PM After Getting Job in Sa Kaeo

          On October 8, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin joined the delegation of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan to visit the area and inspect government operations in Sa Kaeo Province. The delegation also listened to a report on the water situation in the area by Governor of Sa Kaeo Province Mr. Nattachai Nampoonsuksan and related agencies. The first point was the meeting room of the military base in Aranyaprathet District. The second point was at the construction site of the watergate project, the Huay Phrom Hod pumping station, and flood protection flap in Aranyaprathet municipality. The third point was at the Wang Nam Yen Wittayakhom School, Wang Nam Yen Subdistrict, Wang Nam Yen District, where they observed vaccinations and awarded scholarships.
          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin instructed agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Sa Kaeo Province to prepare a plan to help workers, businesses, and people affected by flooding in the area, providing survival bags and drinking water to alleviate people’s suffering. After the water recedes, the Provincial Employment Office will provide employment and occupational promotion services. The Provincial Labour Office will organize an urgent employment and skill development project, support compensation, and provide professional training materials for continuous income. The Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office will provide advice on rights under the labour protection laws. Additionally, the Provincial Social Security Office will take care of benefits for the victims according to their social security rights. It will organize a team of doctors and nurses from hospitals in the network to provide initial care services in the affected areas.
          On this occasion, a Thai woman from Wang Nam Yen District in Sa Kaeo Province had previously asked for help on social media after being deceived into selling services in Dubai. She had asked for help back to Thailand. On this occasion, she thanked Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan for his concern and instructing the Ministry of Labour to coordinate assistance for her safe return to Thailand. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin instructed Minister-Counselor (on labour) Mrs. Plida Ruamkham to coordinate with the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi to help bring back the Thai woman home. The Thai woman returned from Dubai to Thailand on September 21. After 14 days of quarantine, the Sa Kaeo Provincial Employment Office coordinated support by providing job vacancies that met her needs. She currently has a job at VR Container Co., Ltd., in Wang Nam Yen District, Sa Kaeo Province. Today, she thanked Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan for helping her back to Thailand and having a job.
          General Prawit met and encouraged labour volunteers in Sa Kaeo Province who came to welcome him. Labour volunteers play an important role in delivering the Ministry of Labour’s missions to the people in the area. They help provide people with jobs, skills, careers, and income, providing protection and sustainable social security. At present, there are 8,110 labour volunteers across the country.
          The Ministry of Labour’s agencies in Sa Kaeo Province during the COVID-19 pandemic has paid benefits in case of unemployment due to force majeure to 331 people, amounting to 1,161,183.15 Baht. There are 69 establishments that have applied for unemployment benefits in case of force majeure from January 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021.
