Thailand-Laos Tighten Cooperation on Human Trafficking Prevention and Resolution

         The “Deputy Permanent Secretary” participated in the commencement of the Workshop on Strengthening Capacity and Coordination on Prevention and Investigation of Trafficking in Person for Forced Labour at Luang Prabang, Laos. The workshop aimed to develop understanding on law enforcement and cooperation between staff in ASEAN countries.

 

 

          On May 27, 2019, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Suradej Waleeittikul co-chaired the opening of the Workshop on Strengthening Capacity and Coordination on Prevention and Investigation of Trafficking in Person for Forced Labour at Luang Prabang, Laos. The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare in Laos.
          This meeting aimed to create a common understanding between law enforcement agents on labour rights violations. forced labour and human trafficking, to labour inspectors and police to suppress human trafficking, whereby a total of 80 people attended. The training will lead to the development of cooperation between relevant staff, both nationally and internationally, especially ASEAN member countries. Mrs. Pattana Phanthak, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour conducted the discussion on the topic of “the link between labour violations and human rights”.
