The statistics in 2009 shows Vietnam workers committed criminal offences, run away from employers and failed health screening utmost.

         Council of Labour Affairs (CLA) publicized the foreign workers statistics 2009 which appeared that in the end of 2009, there were total 351,016 foreign workers in Taiwan, 176,073 of them worked in productive industry or equivalent to 50.2% and 174,943 of them worked in social welfare or equivalent to 49.8%. In productive industry, there were 61,370 Thai workers or equivalent to 34.2%, 49,401 Philippine workers or equivalent to 28.1% and 48,179 Vietnamese workers or equivalent to 27.4% respectively. In social welfare sector such as caretaker, assistant housemate, there were 121,058 Indonesia workers or equivalent to 69.2%, 29,914 Vietnamese workers or equivalent to 17.1% and 22,676 Philippine workers or equivalent to 13% respectively. As from these numbers, there were only 1,300 Thai workers or least than 1% worked as caretaker.
          In relation to a number of runaway workers throughout 2009, there were totally 17,430 foreign workers running away from employers in which 5,138 were Vietnamese workers, 4,672 were Indonesian workers and 552 were Philippine workers respectively while only 381 Thai workers run away from employers. After study the record of foreign workers running away from the employers , 27,490 foreign workers in total have not been arrested mostly were Vietnamese, Indonesian, Philippine and Thais respectively.
          In relation to crime committed in 2009, there were foreign workers in Taiwan committed crime totally 279 cases dividing into 123 cases of theft or equivalent to 44.1% and 12 cases of murder and assault of which 311 foreign workers were accused namely 121 Vietnamese or 38.9%, 113 Thais or equivalent to 36.3% and 52 Indonesian or equivalent to 16.7%.
