Worker Camps in Bangkok Receive Vaccinations

          On July 27, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan visited the area to hand the vaccinated camp signs of Siam Multi Con Co., Ltd., Soi Inthamara 15 and 27 Engineering Co., Ltd., Soi Inthamara 14, Suthisarn Winitchai Road, Samsen Nai, Phayathai, Bangkok. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, and Deputy Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Mr. Wannarat Srisuksai, also joined the occasion. Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, is concerned about the workforce and the general public amid the COVID-19 situation, promoting vaccinations as a national agenda. The Labour Minister assigned the Social Security Office to work with the Ministry of Interior, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Ministry of Public Health, and related agencies, from both the public and private sector to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to insured persons to control the COVID-19 outbreak from spreading widely in both factories and establishments. The Ministry of Labour has implemented a month-long lockdown of workers’ camps, vaccinating over 20,000 camp workers. For the remaining 60,000 people, the target is to vaccinate 3,000 daily in the worker camps. In Bangkok, there are 611 camps with 83,082 workers, comprising 32,471 Thai people and 50,611 foreigners.

          “Today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned my team and me to visit the area to hand over the sign to the workers’ camp of Siam Multi Con Co., Ltd. At Soi Inthamara 15 and 27 Engineering Co., Ltd. at Soi Inthamara 14, Suthisarn Winitchai Road, Samsen Nai, Phayathai, Bangkok. Workers in both campsites have been fully vaccinated, through the cooperation between the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Public Health, providing COVID-19 vaccinations to Section 33 insured persons. This is one of the measures that the Ministry of Labour has prescribed for prevention and treatment by expediting vaccinations to insured persons following the government’s policy to control the spread of COVID-19 and build immunity among workforce for businesses to move forward,” concluded Mrs. Thiwalrat.
