Labour Minister Receives Letter from Rider Network Group: Instructs Working Group to Review Legislation, Hoping to Protect Platform Workers and Ensure Access to Social Security Rights

          May 18, 2026 at 10:00 hours – Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, received a letter from the Platform Workers’ Network Group, whose more than 30 members came to submit a petition to the Minister of Labour requesting amendments to social security legislation so that platform workers may receive equal protection, welfare, and occupational safety. Also in attendance were Mr. Phiphatchai Paiboon, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Labour (Political), Lt. Cdr. Saroj Khomkhai, Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ms. Nanthinee Sapsiri, Efficiency Adviser at the Social Security Office, and Mr. Surasit Srikaew, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare.           May 1, 2026 – Mr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, presided over the opening ceremony of the 2026 National Labour Day event. Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, delivered the report, while Mr. Thotsaporn Koonsri, Chairperson of the 2026 National Labour Day Organising Committee, submitted eight labour demands to the Prime Minister. TLSC Submits Letter Opposing Contribution Cuts and CARE Pension Formula: Labour Minister Assigns Team to Receive Petition, Affirms All Views Will be Heard, and Measures Affecting Workers’ Rights Reviewed

April 24, 2026, at 09.30 hours – Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, assigned Mr. Phiphatchai Paiboon, a member of the Labour Minister’s team, together with Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Captain Saroj Khomkhai, Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, and Mr. Krirkrai Nasamoyon, Legal Advisor, to receive a petition from Mr. Sawit Kaewwan, President of the Thai Labour Solidarity Confederation (TLSC). Mr. Sawit led approximately 100 members of the State Enterprises Workers’ Relations Confederation (SERC) in submitting a letter to the Minister of Labour expressing opposition to proposed measures to reduce social security contributions, policies relating to minimum wage increases, unstable employment termination, and the proposed CARE pension formula.
