The meeting discussed the issue of Standardized Testing Skills and certification as a qualified national labor standard in the field of mechanical engineer and the field of mechanics air conditioning large buses. On 29 May 2017, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson Mr. Ananchai Uthaipatanacheep as the ministry’s spokesperson, reported the ministry’s meeting minuets at the Press Room on the fifth floor. The report covered 4 issues including the participation of the 106th International Labour Conference in Geneva, where Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul will join the meeting with employer and employee representatives from 11-17 June. The participants will meet with Labour Ministers from all ASEAN member nations to discuss guidelines on managing and resolving labour issues together.
The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson Mr. Soothi Sukosol spoke about the Cabinet’s meeting on 9 May 2017, which approved for the ratification of ILO Convention 111, concerning Discrimination in Respect of Employment and Occupation, 1958, as presented by the Ministry of Labour. The Cabinet further assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prepare the instruments for ratification to be signed before the International Labour Organization.

Today (11 January 2017) at the Smart Job Center, Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul chaired the opening of the knowledge center on workplace safety in honour of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on the occasion of her 60th birthday. The center was established to promote the Princess’s movement on workplace safety. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn also opened the Northeastern Worker’s Rehabilitation Center in the Khon Kaen on 1 December 2004. The Ministry of Labour’s executives have been determined to drive the cause, ensuring maximized workplace safety for worker’s protection, through creating an understanding of dangers. The center will be a place to share information with employers, employees, students, public and private organizations, where the people can learn from real cases. On the 15th July, the Ministry of Labour in Taiwan announced that Taiwanese employers were permitted to employ Vietnamese workers in the position of curators and sea workers (not including housekeepers) after an 11-year ban. The initial ban came from the reason that Vietnamese workers in the following positions had a high rate of illegal migration in which the Vietnamese government did not formulate any effective prevention methods.
