On December 23, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, to give an interview to the “Clear Cut, Chud Jane” program about the Ministry of Labour’s New Year Gifts. The program also explained the trend of the labour market demand in 2022 on the Radio and Television of Thailand Channel NBT. Mr. Boonchob said that in 2022, the Ministry of Labour would have 9 New Year gifts to bring happiness to the workforce. The gifts consist of the first gift, reducing the contribution rate of insured persons under Section 40 by 60 percent for six months. The second gift is a New Year gift to encourage insured persons who are bedridden patients and disabilities under every Section. On December 20, 2021, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong presided over the opening of the brainstorming meeting on ways to increase Thai labour productivity no. 1/2021. The meeting discussed ways to upgrade Thai workers’ skills for the Thai economy to survive in the post-COVID-19 era to make policy proposals to increase the productivity of Thai labour. Experts and honoured members from many agencies attended the meeting at Prasong Rananant meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. On November 17, 2021, at 08.45 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud chaired the workshop to prepare an action plan on the management of informal workers for 2023 – 2027 at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram Conference Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour Building. The meeting was held to serve as a framework for driving the implementation of the promotion, protection, and development of informal workers. The key items to determine the direction on implementing three strategies were: 1) Strengthening social security and expanding coverage. 2) Strengthening the potential of informal workers for work. 3) Enhancing the management capacity of informal workers.
