Assistant to the Labour Minister Meets on Improving Allowances in State Enterprises with Thai Airways Executives

          Today (October 31, 2019) at 15.30 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng chaired the meeting to discuss improvements to allowances in state enterprises, with executives of Thai Airways. The discussion considered adjustments to allowances when not under employment conditions, which therefore do not have to be implemented under the State Enterprise Labour Relations Act B.E. 2543, such as the submission of Article 25 or the consultation to consider improvement of employment conditions under Section 23 (3) of the State Enterprise Labour Relations Act B.E. 2543 B.E. Labour Minister Receives Letter of Complaint from ‘Body Fashion’

          Today (October 30, 2019) at 12.00 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul received a letter of complaint from representatives of Body Fashion (Thailand) Company Limited. The letter claimed that the employer was not compliant with the Labour Protection Act 1998 (as amended in 2019) in case of changing employers or compliant on employment conditions. Assistant to the Labour Minister Meets to Resolve Issues Presented by the Assembly of the Poor

          Today (October 29, 2019) at 10.00 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister, Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng chaired the meeting to discuss solutions to the issues presented by the Assembly of the Poor (under the responsibility of the Ministry of Labour), which has issues on demands from the Assembly of the Poor. The 2 proposals were 1) Labour issues 2) The Ministry of Labour’s policy proposals. Therefore a meeting was held to discuss with the relevant agencies which invited 3 provinces, including Chon Buri, Rayong, and Chanthaburi, to participate in the meeting via video conference to jointly solve the problems of the Assembly of the Poor related to the Ministry of Labour. The meeting also followed up on the progress of demand. MOL Joins National Committee for the Elderly Meeting No. 2/2019

Permanent Secretary of Labour Welcomes HRH Princess Soamsawali and HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha at the PrEP Symposium in Thailand

          Today (October 29, 2019) at 14.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol welcomed HRH Princess Soamsawali and HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha, at a symposium following up on PrEP pre-exposure HIV prevention medicine services in Thailand. MOL Management of Foreign Workers Fund Committee Meets

            On October 28, 2019, at 13.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Niyom Songkaew, to preside over the Management of Foreign Workers Fund Committee meeting. The meeting considered the request for the allocation of funds to manage foreign workers of relevant departments, for the 2020 fiscal year. Labour Minister Welcomes CEO of Principal Financial Group

          On October 28, 2019, at 09.00 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul welcomed Chief Executive Officer of Principal Financial Group Mr. Dan Houston and senior management from the company’s headquarters in the United States. The meeting was on the occasion of a courtesy call and to acknowledge labour policies, including plans to promote savings and investment for retirement. The Ministry of Labour’s senior executives also participated the occasion, which took place at the Saengsingkaew conference room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. Principal Financial Group is a financial institution from the United States. The company conducts investment management businesses around the world, focusing on long-term investment management in the field of retirement and pension funds. This organization is a listed company on the United States NASDAQ Stock Exchange. The size of assets under management is approximately USD 69.6 billion. Labour Minister Discusses Thailands Removal from the US GSP and Confirms Protection of All Workers to International Standards

          The Labour Minister spoke about the case of the US, which will remove Thailand from the GSP program. He confirmed that the Ministry of Labour and related units had worked together on labour protection issues to adhere to international standards all along. Efforts have included the elimination of the worst forms of child labour, which has seen success on many levels for two consecutive years now. It has resolved human trafficking issues by upgrading its status to Tier 2, improved labour protections in the fishing industry, and has been released from the yellow status for IUU fishing. The Ministry of Labour has further ratified Convention No. 29 and No. 188, as well as progressing to the ratification of Convention No. 87 and 98.   Download Images              On October 27, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. MOL and Tang Hua Seng Thonburi Organize Blood Donations in Honour of His Majesty the King

        The Ministry of Labour, together with Tang Hua Seng Thonburi, organized the eighth blood donation, in honour of His Majesty the King. The activity supports blood supply for the Thai Red Cross to help workers who face accidents from work.
