Department of Labor Protection and Welfare prepares to draft the informal labor law, emphasizes promotion and development

          Mr. Ananchai Uthaiwattanachep, Director General of the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare revealed that the Working Group considered the draft of the Informal Labor Protection Act BE …. considered the issue of the protection of informal workers as a whole. The meeting was held to consider the matter four times from the last meeting in September 2560, a resolution was passed to amend the protection and promotion measures to be consistent with the context and facts of informal workers in Thailand. This is currently in process.
          The Director General of the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare said the informal workers are a diverse group of occupations, economic status, workplaces, risk, security, and the problems of each group. Therefore, the care of such groups must be carefully considered to cover all aspects. In the past the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare was responsible for three groups: workers who work in the home according to the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 (2012), agricultural workers who are not employed throughout the year according to the Ministerial Regulations on Labor Protection in Agriculture 2014, and the Workers’ Compensation at home under the Workers Protection Act 2010. The Department of Labor Protection and Welfare will accelerate the expansion of labor protection going to another group.
