Deputy Labour Minister Assigns Team to Phrae to Develop Digital Skills and Drive Community Economy

          On December 26, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat reported that she had assigned Strategic Advisor to the Deputy Labour Minister Mr. Piras Kwanchai and the committee to visit Phrae. This province is responsible for driving Thailand together. The committee discussed ways to develop digital technology skills to develop a community economy together with community enterprises in Phrae. Deputy Provincial Governor of Phrae also joined the discussion.

          On this visit, Mr. Piras said he had the opportunity to visit the “Pa Ngiam” Morhom fabric dyeing learning center, a project to promote and develop products in Phrae province, in Rongkas, Sung Men. They also observed the model project of the Na Kuha Village, Suan Khuen, Mueang. They participated in a meeting to discuss labour development approaches on digital technology to develop community economies together with community enterprises in Phrae. The meeting took place in the Phrae Skill Development Office meeting room, Rongkas, Sung Men, Phrae. The discussion acknowledged the need for help in skill development by the Department of Skill Development, under the supervision of the Deputy Labour Minister, especially developed to be knowledgeable in modern technology, such as increasing distribution channels through online modes, and packaging design development, to add value to the products to promote sales and income.

          Mr. Piras added that the visit to Na Kuha Village’s model project, a village in the business promotion project, is an outstanding product of the Phrae provincial group. It is a project under the approach to strengthen the economy’s sustainability, located on the top of a high mountain in Suan Khuean, Mueang, where villagers in the community have a simple lifestyle. It is hidden with nature, such as experiencing the life of bats in Huai Ton Phueng Cave, the only mountain stove storage in Thailand, trekking up Pha Singh to see the village view, visiting gardens, and observing the demonstration of colour extraction from nature. Such activities can further add value and stimulate the economy. The Phrae Skill Development Office organized the training to add value to workers in the community, including digital training such as selling products online.

          “Advocating for the policy required integration with many agencies, including the public and private sectors in the area. Cooperation in labour development is needed, providing courses to develop the workforce to keep pace with technology, applying the community’s strengths to generate income to develop the foundational economy, driving and developing the national sustainably,” concluded Mr. Piras.
