July 13, 2026 – Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, held discussions with executives from 35 companies to exchange views and determine a framework for cooperation on promoting employment, developing the workforce, and enhancing the country’s competitiveness. Attending were Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Director-General of the Department of Skills Development, Captain Saroj Khomkhai, Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection, Ms. Nanthinee Sapsiri, Efficiency Adviser at the Social Security Office, Mr. Nuntachai Panyasurarit, Director of the Institute for the Promotion of Occupational Safety, Health and Working Environment (TOSH), Surachat Thientong, Secretary to the Labour Minister, Mr. Kritikakon Wongsawangphanit, Mr. Surakiat Thienthong, Ms. Thidarath Yingcharoen and Ms. Bunyakorn Damrongrat, Advisers to the Labour Minister, and senior Ministry of Labour executives. The meeting was held at Magic Room 3, Level 2, Miracle Grand Convention Hotel, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Lak Si District, Bangkok.
Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour, stated that the discussion with executives from all 35 private sector companies represents a key policy of the Ministry of Labour in driving Thailand’s economy through the promotion of employment and career creation for those seeking work, under the concept of “Public-Private Collaboration to Drive the Thai Economy with High-Skilled Labour.” The aim is to align workforce development with the current and future demands of the labour market, by integrating cooperation with the private sector, listening to the proposals and challenges from the business community, and translating these into workforce skills development (upskilling and reskilling), the improvement of laws and benefits conducive to employment, and the creation of opportunities for Thai workers to access stable and appropriately remunerated employment.
Mr. Julapun further stated that there are currently a cumulative total of 311,983 vacancies registered by employers through the “Thai Mi Ngan Tham” system, and more than 166,461 applicants have already been placed. The majority of labour demand remains in the manufacturing sector, at over 114,305 positions, whilst more than 51,000 bachelor’s degree graduates are currently seeking employment — reflecting a mismatch between qualifications and labour market needs. The Ministry of Labour is therefore focused on building cooperation with businesses to increase specialist, professional, and high-value positions, to open opportunities for Thai workers, particularly new graduates, to work in roles commensurate with their potential and with prospects for career growth.
Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, stated that the Department of Employment is ready to integrate cooperation with the private sector in developing workforce skills in line with market needs, alongside linking vacancy data through the “Thai Mi Ngan Tham” platform to improve job-matching efficiency and reduce labour shortages. He called upon businesses to continuously register their vacancies and required skills in the system, so that the data can be analysed and used to develop training curricula that meet the needs of the business sector, thereby producing quality personnel, improving the quality of life of Thai workers, and raising the country’s competitiveness.
