Prof. Narumon continued to drive labour development to support the twelve target industries, leading a team to formulate a plan to drive labour development, drawing over 30 co-working partners.
On March 29, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat chaired the subcommittee meeting on Labour Development and Occupational Training Coordination in the S-curve Target Industries No. 1/2021. The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Deputy Labour Minister M.L. Puntarik Samiti. The Department of Skill Development’s Director-General joined as Acting Secretariat at the Pakorn Angsusingh Meeting Room, 10th floor, Department of Skill Development.
Prof. Narumon said today’s meeting intended to listen to suggestions to jointly drive labour development into the 12 target industries. This committee will be responsible for studying and analyzing information to develop skills for the workforce, setting up an action plan, and inviting individuals or groups of people with expertise in each area, to participate in preparing a skills development plan for the target industries. Today’s meeting marks an important mechanism for furthering the action of the subcommittee for clarity and effectiveness.
The subcommittee that attended today’s meeting includes representatives from many agencies such as the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (Public Organization), the Bank of Thailand, the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the Ministry of Industry Representative, the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, the Office of the Board of Investment and the Office of the Education Council. In the development of personnel and workforce for S-curve industries, many departments have already planned and implemented operations. Therefore, the operations should be integrated with agencies working together for effective development, responding to industrial needs.
The meeting determined that each agency provides information and labour development plans to support the target industries, to submit information so that the Department of Skill Development can compile and draw up a draft plan for workforce development to support the S-curve industries by early next week. The subcommittee will meet again on Friday, April 9, 2021, to see a clearer development plan.
“Preparing workers for the S-curve industry will provide them with the skills, knowledge, and capabilities required by the labour market. The effort will help build careers, promote employment, and continue to provide a stable income. Suggestions from the meeting will be used to determine the action plan for further developing the workforce,” concluded the Deputy Labour Minister.
