Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat reported the news of heavy rain and water flow into many areas, flooding people’s homes. Initially, the Department of Skill Development in the flood-affected areas have been assigned to cooperate with the provinces and arrange staff to help people, such as moving things. They have also been assigned a survey of government assistance and prepare to support after the water subsides. The Deputy Labour Minister said that today, a report from the Nakhon Ratchasima Institute for Skill Development 5 said that water has begun to recede in Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality and Pak Thong Chai District, but the rain has continued. As a result, there is an overflowing of water in some areas, flooding many peoples’ houses. Nakhon Ratchasima has urgently mobilized staff to help people move their belongings while also providing temporary accommodation and food supply. Some goods and appliances have already been distributed to the public.
The Deputy Labour Minister continued that the report found that in areas where the water has begun to recede, people need medicines as the flooding has caused foot stomatitis. The people also need the government to help with employment to generate income, as, during the floods, there was no income to support family living expenses. The Ministry of Labour will take matters and assign them to the relevant departments to assist urgently. The Department of Skill Development has prepared staff to repair electrical household appliances damaged by the flood and have explored the need for training to provide knowledge to further create career and income.
“I thank the officials in all sectors who have helped the people experiencing this flood issue, and ask you to perform your duties with care,” concluded the Deputy Labour Minister.
