Deputy Labour Minister Visits Amnat Charoen to Promote New Generation of Farmers

          On October 10, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Capt. Thammanat Prompao visited Amnat Charoen to explain the government’s support to farmers, creating career opportunities while waiting for the harvest season and driving new farming practices with technology to reduce work times and improve productivity.
          Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat said that agriculture workers play an important role in the country’s economy. There are 68 million people of working-age, 37 million are employed, and 11.47 million people are in the agricultural sector, following the 19.28 million people in the service sector. In Amnat Charoen, there are 117,362 people in the workforce, whereby 114,766 people are employed. From this population, 44,934 people work in agriculture accounting for 39.15 percent. Thus, promoting a stable career and income is an important engine to drive the country’s economy. Furthermore, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, the government attaches great importance to this. It has assigned the Ministry of Labour to carry out missions to promote job stability.
          The Deputy Labour Minister continued the visit to meet the people of Amnat Charoen, had the objective of listening to the problems and suggestions and needs of the local workforce so that the government can provide precise assistance. In addition, The Deputy Labour Minister expressed the desire to disseminate information about the Ministry of Labour’s missions for the people to use its services. There are agencies offering services in every province across the country from skills development, recruitment, welfare, and insurer applications to receive benefits when they are a company employee. Workers in agriculture can also use the services provided by the Ministry of Labour, especially in skills development that can promote the work of farmers, such as providing knowledge about water management systems using automatic water on-off system via mobile phone, installing solar cells to use solar energy and the use of drones for agriculture, for example. For the training mentioned above, the government’s funding provides free services to participants, and is traveling is an inconvenience; there is also free accommodation.
          “Something that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha has entrusted the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Ministry of Labour to work together to help the people in 3 issues: the issue of arable land, skills development and assisting in solving informal debt problems. The visit intends to help people. The Ministry of Labour is willing to provide services to all groups of people to receive services for such matters. Today, there are labour volunteers to receive a banner for doing good from the Ministry of Labour.
