The Deputy Minister of Labour, together with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, visited Phrae provinces. They emphasized that they are ready to work hard to help the people, workers, and businesses affected by the Covid-19 situation.
On August 22, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumol Pinyosinwat along with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Capt. Thammanat Prompao visited Phrae to listen to the troubles of the people in the province amid the flooded forests of both Phrae and Nan provinces. The information gathered will be used to prepare a report to the Prime Minister to help people after the water subsides.
The Deputy Labour Minister said that she was pleased to have the opportunity to commence the Ministry of Labour’s project to strengthen the power in driving Thailand forward, in the visit to Phrae for the 2020 fiscal year. Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has shown concern for the people and has assigned every minister to proactively meet and help people who have suffered from various disasters in every province. The initiative will help promote, support, and advise government agencies in the province, and provide support to the people quickly. In particular, the Ministry of Labour has five agencies located in every province across the country, including Provincial Labour Offices, Provincial Employment Offices, Provincial Skill Development Offices, Provincial Labour Protection, and Welfare Offices and Provincial Social Security Offices. The offices will serve to support and promote labour in all areas for the happiness and security of the people.
In this regard, the Provincial Governor assigned the relevant Phrae Provincial Government Heads to provide a briefing on developmental directions for driving the national strategy and guidelines to propel Thailand forward together in Phrae. The briefing also included the situation of the Covid-19 outbreak, prevention and preparation measures in the event of an outbreak, measures, plans, and projects to remedy and rehabilitate affected people, including the province as a whole. The session also provided information on the labour situation operational results from agencies under the Ministry of Labour.
Phrae has a population of 441,726 people, and a workforce of 241,704 people. There are 149,268 independent workers, 100,880 elderly people, ranking fourth in the country, and 22,883 disabled workers. In addition, there are 1,498 foreign workers working in the province. Mohom (indigo) cloth and teak furniture are important OTOP products of the province.
“The objective of the visit is to strengthen the work in the area, creating cooperation with all departments to drive the national development strategy effectively. The visit also aims to explore obstacles in provincial development, including issues, where the province needs support from the government. The information will be compiled and presented in the next Cabinet meeting,” concluded the Labour Minister.
