On November 27, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Advisor to Deputy Minister of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti, and the working group visited Phrae to listen to the performance that drives Thailand together. They visited the Mo Hom Thung Charoen Community Enterprise in natural dyeing and encouraged the disabled persons’ occupational group. They also observed the training room to add value to furniture and teak products with innovation and technology and observed the training on the use of smartphones for online businesses among community enterprises. The head of the Phrae Provincial Government Office gave a welcoming.
Prof. Narumon said that this visit was the second visit. From the previous visit, she had reported to Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan. On this visit, she would bring various proposals that the province needs help in, to present and report to the Prime Minister further. From a preliminary overview, it was found that the provinces in the northern region were very popular among tourists, for its cool weather and beautiful scenery. Phrae is one of 17 provinces in northern Thailand, with an income from Thai and foreign tourists of approximately 900 million Baht per year. The well-known products are cloth, hum pot, and wooden furniture. The Deputy Labour Minister asked the people to promote tourism, help with income and cash flow, and restore the country’s economy.
In the afternoon, the Deputy Labour Minister and committee visited the Mo Hom Thung Charoen Community Enterprise in natural dyeing, in Muang, Phrae. It is a support group of researchers from the government to research and develop natural-colored fabrics. For the Ministry of Labour, there is an Employment Office to take care of home workers. The Phrae Skill Development Office also promotes vocational training such as dyeing with natural colours (Mo Hom), weaving from natural-coloured fibers, and making products from Mo Hom cloth. At present, Mo Hom cloth has been developed to be universal. There is also a learning center, which is a tourist attraction, and was awarded in the OTOP Village Champion (OVC) to help and support groups to earn more.
They then visited and gave words of encouragement to the people with disabilities occupation group, which serves as a service center for the disabled. It was established as a network of generosity from 2006 to promote knowledge and understanding of psychiatry, treatment, and home care for relevant persons and the general public. It is also a center for meeting, discussing, and encouraging each other. It was awarded as the Outstanding Disability Organization of 2016 for outstanding support for people with disabilities in employment, along with many other awards. Before traveling back, she visited the training center to add value to furniture and teak products through innovation and technology. In 2021, the center will receive budget support from Phrae province to provide training for local workers to have the knowledge to produce and add value to woodworking products. She also observed the training on smartphone use for online business among community enterprises, where seven groups of community enterprises have sent members for training.
“The operation of all departments is an important mechanism in driving government policy. Therefore, I ask for collaboration to be strengthened to benefit the people and promote a good quality of life, which is an indicator of the country’s economy. The Ministry of Labour has collaborated with network partners with leading e-commerce systems, which will be able to bring this knowledge to help and develop to the area, building career opportunities and sustainable income,” concluded the Deputy Labour Minister.
