Deputy PM Accelerate NVTCC to Brainstorm Plans on Manpower Development to Support Targeted Industries

          On September 9, 2021, at the Command Building 1, Government Houses, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan chaired the National Vocational Training Coordination Committee (NVTCC) Meeting No. 4/2021. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, including government and private agencies, also attended the meeting.
          General Prawit said that the National Vocational Training Coordination Committee has the authority to formulate policies and guidelines for labour development and coordinate vocational training for those in the country’s workforce. The NVTCC’s operations are therefore extremely important. Today’s meeting had four important agendas, namely, the nomination of a list of persons to be appointed as qualified sub-committees of the NVTCC to replace vacant positions, the amendment to the list of qualified sub-committees in NVTCC, the (draft) Labour Development Plan, and Vocational Coordination Training in S-Curve Target Industries (2022-2027) and the (draft) Action Plan on Skills Development for People with Disabilities to Support Occupation (2021-2027). The efforts aim to create jobs and careers for Thai workers to create and drive the economy and society under the new way of life, promoting equality. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Labour works with relevant agencies to brainstorm opinions on the country’s manpower development planning to support the targeted industries (S – curve).
          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin revealed that in today’s meeting, in addition to the matters proposed to the meeting for consideration, the meeting approved the material proposed by the Secretary Department. The Ministry of Labour also reported the Prime Minister’s Office Regulations on Labour Development and National Vocational Training Coordination (No. 2) B.E. 2564, which has been updated, adding elements of the NVTCC and improving the previous authorities. The Ministry of Labour also reported on the progress of the implementation of three committees, namely the Subcommittee on Labour Development and Vocational Coordination Training the Target Industries (S-Curve), the Subcommittee on Skill Development for Persons with Disabilities for Occupational Support, and the Subcommittee on Skill Development for State Welfare Cardholders.
          “General Prawit, who supervises the Ministry of Labour, has assigned the Ministry of Labour to work with relevant agencies to brainstorm ideas on the country’s manpower development planning to support the targeted industries, using the NVTCC’s mechanisms to move forward. We are currently in the process of receiving opinions through electronic media together with industry and related parties. We will continue to draw up a job chart and employment trends in each target industry,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
