Today (May 16, 2018) H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labor as a president and gave a keynote speech on “Migration to Opportunity to Overcome Barriers to Labor Movement in Southeast Asia at Launch of the World Bank Report” at Centara Grand, Central World. Labor mobility is a global phenomenon and is becoming increasingly important in every region. It is predicted that in the 21st century will be the phenomenon of migration. This will affect economic change, society and culture in Thailand cross-border migration between two Thai-Myanmar, Thai-Lao, Thai-Cambodian and Thai-Malaysia border crossings. It is a phenomenon that has occurred from the past to the present, due to the liberalization of trade and investment in the country. Especially in the case of Thailand with high economic growth. Population dynamics, as well as political security, welfare, legal and policy issues both in origin and destination, all contribute to move labor into Thailand.
H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo also said: Migration is a sensitive issue and is a broad issue. In addition to the public sector. The Ministry of Labor, therefore, promotes the role of the tripartite. Employers and employers are taking part in the drive, work closely with civil society and ILO, such as the ILO, the IOM, and the EU, with technical cooperation projects such as the Ship to Shore Rights Program to counteract unacceptable practices in the fishing industry and seafood to solve the problem of working conditions that violate basic rights. Technical support for ratification of the ILO Convention by the Ministry of Labor is being prepared to support the Protocol 29, Supplement to the ILO Convention No. 29 on forced labor to accelerate the resolution of labor rights violations and the Thai-Israeli cooperation project for employment in agriculture. This reduces the burden on Thai workers working in Israel.
This World Bank report will provide an insight into Thailand and other countries. In the ASEAN region, migration is more inclusive and awareness of the involvement of foreign workers. In order to look back, migrating is a matter for which recipient countries and labor exporters benefit both sides and the ASEAN community must shake hands without leaving anyone behind.
