Gen. Adul ordered to inspect all golf courses to help Thai caddy get the job

              Today (May 15, 2018) H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labor, is concerned about Thai caddy cadets who complain that some Thai caddy golf courses were forced out by employers because the aliens are acting in place of Thai people. Recently, the Ministry of Labor has ordered the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare and the Department of Employment to inspect golf courses nationwide. If the Thai caddy was released from the job as reported by the Ministry of Labor The Department of Labor Protection and Welfare will also take care of and provide legal protection. In addition, the employers and employees should strictly comply with the law. As well, there have been written to golf course operators around the country that they can not hire foreign workers to work for a caddy. He emphasized that migrants from Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia could work only workers and working in the house.

 

           Police General Adul added that the Thai caddy case of the Inthanon golf course in Chiang Mai complained to Damrongtham Center that the golf course had reduced the field fees, causing a decrease in revenue. Lastly, the welfare and protection of the workers in Chiang Mai have been investigated. The caddy is not an employee of the golf course, but is a contract between the golfers and the caddy. The caddy fee is 300 baht per round. The caddy was originally to pay 40 baht for the golf course. The price of the field from 40 baht to 100 baht, the caddy did not consent and issued a complaint. The welfare and protection of the workers in Chiang Mai province has been agreed between the two parties for the low season (July – August) and (Jan – Feb) the field fee is 100 baht. In the high season (Mar-Jun) and (Sep-Dec), the field fee is 40 baht per round. This is to make the golf course possible to be in the business and the caddy continues to work as well.
           According to the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare, there are more than 200 golf courses in Thailand, including driving ranges about 500 golf courses. According to the Acts of the Aliens Act of 2018, aliens who work without Permission to work or work other than the right to do so is liable to a fine of between 5,000 and 50,000 Baht and shall be returned to the country of origin. For employers receiving aliens to work without a work permit or work other than the right to do so. In case of repeat offense, the offender shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or to a fine of between Baht 50,000 and 200,000 per alien employed or to both, and forbid him/her to hire a foreigner to work for 3 years from the date the court finally sentenced to punish.
