Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labor, is concerned about Thai caddy cadets who complain that some Thai caddy golf courses were forced out by employers because the aliens are acting in place of Thai people. Recently, the Ministry of Labor has ordered the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare and the Department of Employment to inspect golf courses nationwide. As well, there have been written to golf course operators around the country that they can not hire foreign workers to work for a caddy. He emphasized that migrants from Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia could work only workers and working in the house.
Police General Adul added that the Thai caddy case of the Inthanon golf course in Chiang Mai complained to Damrongtham Center that the golf course had reduced the field fees, causing a decrease in revenue. Lastly, the welfare and protection of the workers in Chiang Mai have been investigated. The caddy is not an employee of the golf course, but is a contract between the golfers and the caddy. In case of repeat offense, the offender shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or to a fine of between Baht 50,000 and 200,000 per alien employed or to both, and forbid him/her to hire a foreigner to work for 3 years from the date the court finally sentenced to punish.
