Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned his Advisor to give a talk to 210 Thai workers traveling to the agricultural sector in Israel under the Thailand-Israel Cooperation for Employment (TIC) Program. The speech emphasized compliance with the State of Israel’s laws, encouraging the workers to avoid deceit, drugs, and alcohol, and encourage savings and bringing experiences back to develop the country.
On January 27, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan to chair the visit and give words of encouragement to 210 Thai workers traveling to work in Israel’s agricultural sector. The occasion took place at the Overseas Workers Training Room, 11th floor, Bangkok Social Security Office Building Area 3, Ministry of Labour. Advisory Board Member to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat also joined the visit. The Advisor to the Ministry of Labour said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, has given great importance to sending Thai workers to work abroad. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the delivery of workers abroad has to be delayed, as Thailand implemented various measures to control the spread of infection. The Israeli government announced the need for 2,000 Thai workers to work in the Israeli agricultural sector in 2021, which began dispatching workers on September 30, 2020, with 1,644 workers traveling to work. There will be 210 workers traveling to work, with the Department of Employment scheduling delivery to meet Israeli employers’ needs, at a rate of at least 450 people per month. This group of Thai workers will travel by bus to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan tonight at 23.00 hours. When arriving at the airport, the airline will check the luggage before boarding the plane to prevent the smuggling of illegal substances. The workers will be traveling on El Al Israel Airlines at 09.00 hours on January 28.
Mrs. Thiwalrat encouraged all Thai workers that when they arrive in Israel to be sure to obey Israel’s cultural and custom laws. She emphasized that workers avoid drugs, abuse, and alcohol because it will lead to losing work. She also encouraged the workers to save money, bring income back to the family, and take experiences from work and back to Thailand to raise themselves and their families. Most importantly, she emphasized that the workers take the authorities’ steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
