Content Description

The Labour Minister assigned his Advisor to visit Nakhon Pathom to launch the social security program across Thailand to the fifth generation of independent workers, drawing independent workers to access social security.

On December 17, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan presided over the opening ceremony of the social security project across Thailand to the fifth generation of independent workers (Bangkok/metropolitan) at the Sawasdee River Hotel Nakhon Pathom, Muang, Nakhon Pathom. Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, also joined the occasion. The Social Security Office’s Secretary General Mr. Tosapol Kritawongwiman and the Social Security Office’s Performance Consultant Ms. Pakomn Silanupub gave a report, and Deputy Governor of Nakhon Pathom Province Mr. Khomson Charoenarj gave a welcoming. The Labour Minister’s Advisor said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha has focused on strengthening a comprehensive and suitable social security for people of all ages to support an aging society’s transition. The Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, has prioritized the independent labour sector or the informal sector to promote social security. Today, the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Advisor to meet with Kanchanaburi’s independent or informal workers, as everyone is an important player in driving the country’s development. With stability in informal workers’ lives, they will give rise to confidence in their work and life, which will positively affect the economy and generate income for the country, promoting prosperity to the nation as a whole.

Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the social security projects organized throughout Thailand towards independent workers aim to create knowledge and understanding of Section 40 Social Security benefits, creating incentives for self-employed people, networks of community leaders, merchants, and the general public participating in the project to be able to recognize and disseminate information about Section 40. The Social Security benefits under Section 40 cover three options such as compensation for lack of income from illness, disability, death, or old age and child allowance. Conditions as an insured person under Section 40 cover various professional groups and promote understanding and knowledge among the general public, allowing independent workers to decide to apply and increasingly access the benefits under Section 40, following government policies that will further reduce inequality in society.
