Labour Minister Assigns Pol. Maj. Gen. Nantachat to Donate Survival Bags to Help Flood Victims in Khon Kaen

         On October 11, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office performing duties for the Ministry of Labour Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol to visit the area to support and donate 200 survival bags to workers and villagers affected by floods in Khon Kaen Province at Ban Hua Bueng, Moo 5, Don Chang Sub-district, Mueang Khon Kaen District, Khon Kaen Province. Heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Khon Kaen Province also joined the occasion.

         Police Major General Nantachat said that the tropical storm “Dian Mu” and water masses from Chaiyaphum Province drained into the Chi River caused the river to overflow and flood agricultural areas and people’s houses. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, is concerned about the people suffering from the impacts. Today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned him to visit the area to give encouragement and relief bags to alleviate people’s suffering. And after the water recedes, the Provincial Employment Office will provide employment and occupational promotion services. The Provincial Labour Office will organize an urgent employment and skill development project, support compensation, and provide professional training materials for continuous income. The Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office will provide advice on rights under the labour protection laws. Additionally, the Provincial Social Security Office will take care of benefits for the victims according to their social security rights. It will organize a team of doctors and nurses from hospitals in the network to provide initial care services in the affected areas.

         “Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin expressed his concern and encouragement for workers and villagers who have suffered from this flood. He has instructed the Ministry of Labour’s agencies in the area to work with relevant agencies, ready to mobilize all forces to ensure safety for workers and the people to the fullest extent and accelerate recovery after the water recedes according to the mission of each unit. Today, he has assigned me to visit the area to give encouragement and provide survival bags to flood-affected villagers to alleviate their suffering and bring the situation back to normal as soon as possible,” concluded Police Major General Nantachat.

         For the flooding in Khon Kaen, Ton Chang Subdistrict, subdivided into eight villages with 1,076 households, has five villages affected by flooding, including villages 1,3,4,5,6. The most affected areas are Ban Hua Bueng Village No. 5, which has 340 people and 120 households.
