Labour Minister Assigns Pol. Maj. General Nantachat to Visit Channel 8 Respondent Injured from Rally Dissolution on March 20, 2021

          On March 22, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the Departmental Inspector-General Mrs. Wanthanat Poolwat, and Director of the Bangkok Social Security Office Area 2 Ms. Busakorn Wongsuwan, paid a visit to give words of encouragement to Ms. Panitnat Phrombangkerd, a Channel 8 correspondent who was injured during the news report of the dissolution of the police rally in Sanam Luang on March 20, 2021. The visit took place at Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital, with Associate Professor Piya Netwichien, Director of Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital, Director of Nurses at Kasemrad Prachachuen Hospital Mrs. Sumalee Duangnet and hospital staff, gave a welcoming.

          Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat said that Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin showed concern about the dissolution of the rally on March 20, 2021, which resulted in injuries. Among the injured were two reporters who were performing news reporting duties. One was Ms. Thanyalak Wannakot, a reporter for the Khaosod Newspaper, shot by a rubber bullet which caused bruising in her leg. She did not seek medical attention and has returned to work as usual. Another reporter was Ms. Panitnat Phrombangkerd, a Channel 8 correspondent, who was shot with a rubber bullet and caused bruising on her head. She was admitted to Kasemrat Prachachuen Hospital. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklim assigned him to go to the area to give gifts to build morale for the injured reporters. As for assistance, the Bangkok Social Security Office Area 2 has coordinated with the company to submit the Kor.Tor. 16 and Kor.Tor. 44 form with the hospital already. The injured person will be entitled to the Workmen’s Compensation Fund, as it is an injury from carrying out work duties. Medical expenses will be covered as actual expenses, not exceeding 50,000 Baht. The reporter will receive compensation in the event of time off work at the rate of 70 percent of wages, based on a wage base not exceeding 20,000 Baht, according to the doctor’s certificate stating that leave should not exceed one year.
