Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitvong as chairman over the commencement of the “Co-Payment Workers’ Meeting in Chiang Mai” event. He met with employers/companies to drive the project to employ over 5,000 new graduates in the area.
On November 28, 2020, the Labour Minister assigned the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong to preside over the “Co-Payment Workers’ Meeting in Chiang Mai” event. Advisory Board Member to the Minister of Labour Mr. Natthawat Teeratathamrong also joined the event. Deputy Director-General of the Department of Employment Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan reported the event’s objectives at the Khum Phucome Hotel, Mueang, Chiang Mai. The Co-Payment Project aims to support new graduates with employment, careers, income, skills, and work experience, promoting sufficient income for spending, stimulating the economy. It also aims to help employers/companies to continue their business by encouraging employers/companies to work. There are four groups of new graduates: undergraduates, advanced diplomas, vocational certificates, and high school certificates. Nationwide, there are 260,000 people.
Mr. Suthep Chitvong said that Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin is committed to implementing the Prime Minister’s policy in addressing the country’s poverty issues following the 20-Year National Strategy Framework (2018-2037). The framework focuses on the next 20 years of Thailand as “a country with stability, prosperity, and sustainability” by creating jobs, careers, and income, towards a developed country. The actions follow the development of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and the 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan. The overall goal of development is to reduce inequality and poverty, strengthening the economic system, and increasing competitiveness in the ASEAN region. New graduates entering the workforce are a vital force that cannot be ignored or overlooked.
Mr. Suthep said that the “Co-Payment Workers’ Meeting in Chiang Mai” event today involved 60 employers/companies recruiting and interviewing participants. There were 212 positions with over 1,000 vacancies. The event also provided advice on applying for jobs and interviewing, consultations about working abroad, employment services through the Job Box, and exhibitions by agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Chiang Mai. The Chiang Mai Provincial Employment Office has adopted an information technology system for recruitment to increase job searching efficiency. It has met with employers/companies and agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the area to jointly drive the implementation of the project to achieve results according to the objectives.
“Chiang Mai has a goal to fill 5,620 new graduates in the program. To date, 189 employers/companies in Chiang Mai have joined the program through the www.jarngdekjobmai.com platform. There have been 1,836 new graduates in Chiang Mai that have applied to join the program through the website. This event hopes to promote a contract for employment under the project, to meet the set goals,” concluded the Labour Minister’s Secretariat.
