Labour Minister Assigns Secretariat to Consult with Companies and SBPAC on Expanding Southern Labour Market to the East Systematically

            Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned his Secretariat to visit Chonburi, to have a discussion with the executives of King Pack and SBPAC in bringing youths from the three southern border provinces to work in companies in the eastern region, supporting employment, occupation, income, and the systematic labour movement.
            On December 8, 2020, the Labour Minister assigned the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong to Chonburi to discuss with the executives of the King Pack and the SBPAC Secretary-General in bringing youths from the three southern border provinces to work in companies following the systematic labour movement project to resolve labour shortages at King Pack Industrial PCL, located in Nong Mai Daeng, Mueang Chonburi, Chonburi. Advisory Board Member to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, SBPAC’s Deputy Secretariat and Acting Secretariat, Rear Admiral Somkiat, and the Chonburi Employment Office attended the event. Khun Tawee Chunsaksakul, executive of King Pack, gave a welcoming. The Labour Minister’s Secretariat said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, emphasizes the promotion of employment to help people affected by Covid-19 quickly return to employment, earn an income, and promote economic recovery. The Ministry of Labour under supervision by Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, as the supervisor of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC), has emphasized employment promotion, especially among young people in the southern border provinces who unemployed. The Ministry of Labour’s systematic labour movement program has conducted a pilot in Phetchaburi. Today, it discussed with company executives and the Royal Thai Police Office directly to ensure the systematic labour movement is complete. This action is a collaboration between the SBPAC and departments under the Ministry of Labour in the three southern border provinces and considered a solution to unemployment in the area and labour shortages, including expanding the labour market in the eastern region.
          Mr. Suthep said that King Pack is fortunate not to be affected by Covid-19. But there is a constant need for labour, which was discussed, to explore companies’ needs and availability to bring unemployed people from the three provinces to work in companies in Chonburi. It is a starting point for preparation before bringing the unemployed from the southern border provinces to work at the organizations, resolve labour shortage, expand the labour market from the south to the east and promote a systematic labour movement.
