The Labour Minister emphasized for the senior management and head of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Chonburi to accelerate the government’s defense policy and resolve the human trafficking, to aim for the Tier 1 level.
On November 7, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the presentation of policies and directives to drive the prevention and remedy human trafficking to advance to Tier 1. The presentation took place in the seminar on driving policy mechanisms to prevent and resolve human trafficking for 2021, November from 6-8, 2020, at the Novotel Marina Sriracha & Koh Si Chang Hotel, Sriracha, Chonburi. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, the Ministry of Labour’s executives and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Chonburi also joined the occasion. The Labour Minister said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, has focused on driving policies to prevent and resolve human trafficking. The Ministry of Labour, under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, has established policies to prevent and resolve human trafficking, aimed at reaching Tier 1. He also visited the area to listen to the President of Bang Saray Fisheries Farmers Group on labour problems in sea fishing.
Mr. Suchart continued that the Ministry of Labour is focused on driving government policy. He said that he is therefore attentive to accelerate development to improve laws to reflect current situations such as the Covid-19 pandemic, to develop the competency of the workforce to prevent and resolve human trafficking problems, strengthen network partners and people to be a coalition in the prevention and resolution of human trafficking in the area. Efforts include integrating with relevant agencies, including the Covid-19 Situation Management Center, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, to discuss ways to prevent human trafficking sustainably. The Department of Employment and Department of Labour Protection and Welfare accept the proposal of the Fisheries Association of Thailand for further action.
