On March 21, 2019, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo chaired the opening ceremony of the 8th Asia Pacific IIW International Congress at the Ballroom, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, alongside Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and the ministry’s senior executives. The Labour Minister said that welding education is essential to the metal forming industry, including other sectors such as the construction, automotive and aviation industries and the creation of transportation systems linking countries and regions. He said that this is one of the key strategies of Thailand to develop the capacity to become a transportation hub in ASEAN.
Pol.Gen. Adul said that labour is human capital that is a key and valuable factor for national development at all levels. If workers in the manufacturing sector are knowledgeable, have the skills and high potentials, this would result in higher productivity and improve overall national economic development. Therefore, the human resource development mechanisms in terms of knowledge, skills, quality, morality and work attitude will create value for the nation and boost competitiveness, following the country’s reform policy to Thailand 4.0.
In this regard, the Ministry of Labour has formed a 20-year strategic framework for national human resource development (2017 – 2036) by defining a vision of a highly valuable workforce for sustainability. The first period between 2017 – 2021 is the era of labour foundations in alignment with international standards. Strategies have been formed to increase labour potential by promoting the development of Thai labour standards to meet international standards, to support the implementation of the said strategic framework.
“This international conference will be a platform to help expand the world of human resource development in the 4.0 industrial age, allowing people to share views on new technologies and innovations, as well as exchange ideas on ways to harvest opportunities and transform challenges to benefit the country, the region and the world,” Pol.Gen. Adul concluded.
