Labour Minister Delighted of Public’s Opinion on MOL Performance; Commends and Encourages Officials to Drive Missions to Overcome the Covid-19 Crisis

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin was delighted to see the RIDC poll results from the Innovation and Digital Research Center of the College of Innovation and Management, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. The results revealed that the public was satisfied with the overall performance and work of the government. The Ministry of Labour was ranked among the top five, and civil servants were praised for helping each other at full capacity. The Labour Minister confirmed to drive missions through the Covid-19 crisis.

          On December 29, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the RIDC poll results from the Innovation and Digital Research Center of the College of Innovation and Management. Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University launched a public opinion poll on the government’s performance for 2020 between December 21-25 to inquire the public’s opinions about the performance as a whole and each ministry, including outstanding works of the government. The poll results reflect the views of the people in society and for stakeholders to acknowledge. The poll sampled people aged 18 years and over scattered in every region, at all levels of education and careers nationwide through online questionnaires and interviews. The total of 4,121 samples showed that 62.11 percent of the people were satisfied with overall government work. The top five individual ministries which received the highest satisfaction scores were: 1) The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives at 65.62 percent. 2) The Ministry of Commerce at 65.51 percent. 3) The Ministry of Public Health at 64.20 percent. 4) The Ministry of Labour at 62.98 percent and 5) The Ministry of Tourism and Sports at 60.01 percent.

          Mr. Suchart also spoke about the Ministry of Labour’s New Year gifts to the workforce nationwide. The gifts include: 1) Reducing contributions by reducing the rate of contributions for employers and insured persons from 5% to 3% of wages for three months (January – March 2021). 2) An increase in the childcare allowance from 600 to 800 Baht per month per child (not exceeding three children). Childbirth allowance was originally 13,000 Baht, increased to 15,000 Baht, and antenatal care from 3 times at 1,000 Baht, to 5 times at 1,500 Baht. 3) Reduced loan interests to homework workers. The first to twelfth installment is 0% per annum, and the thirteenth installment onwards is 3% per annum under a 7,000,000 Baht loan framework. The loan is a maximum of 50,000 Baht for each person, not exceeding 300,000 Baht per group. 4) Free training in occupational safety, health, and the environment for 10,000 people and 5) Free online training, including 50 percent compensation payments to insured persons affected by Covid-19 if the government orders a temporary closure for 90 days.

          “I commend and empower all government officials and the Ministry of Labour’s officials for helping each other perform their duties with full force. The Ministry of Labour will strive to drive labour missions by promoting employment, skill development, labour protection, and enhancing life securities, to improve the quality of life of the workforce to get through this Covid-19 crisis,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
