Labour Minister Distributes Relief Packages to Flood Victims in Roi Et

          The Labour Minister and committee visited Roi Et for an inspection and gave 500 relief packages to alleviate suffering, in an integrated effort to help flood victims.

 

 

         Today (September 7, 2019), Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Duangrit Benjathikul Chairungruang, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and committee to meet 500 flood victims in Panang Village, Ban Maew, Bueng Ngam, Thung Khao Luang, Roi Et. Deputy Provincial Govenor of Roi Et Mr. Damrong Sirivichai Imviset welcomed the visiting committee, comprising executives, heads of government agencies and representatives from the Ministry of Labour which participated in this area. The Labour Minister and committee gave 500 relief packages to flood victims at Bueng School, Ngam Phatthana, Bueng Ngam, Thung Khao Luang, Roi Et.
         From the Provincial Governor’s report, data from the Roi Et Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office on September 5, 2019, Roi Et Province has affected areas in 8 districts, namely Mueang Roi Et, Selaphum, Muang Suang, Phon Thong, Thawat Buri, Pho Chai Changharn and Thung Khao Luang, totaling 85 sub-districts. 1,071 villages, 63,542 households and 319,962.25 rai of damaged agricultural area, separated into 312,962.25 rai of rice, 4,750 rai of crops and 2,250 rai of farm area. A total of 543 household have been affected, with 190 schools and 4 deaths. Assistance for the province has been provided by the military, together with police and local government organizations and volunteers granted by the 904 WorPorRor.
         The Labour Minister urged the ministry’s government agencies to work with local agencies, including the institute and the Office of Skill Development in the area to establish a coordination center to help people who need shelter, and to consider the dormitory area of the agency as a temporary shelter to alleviate the suffering. After the floods, he said officials should survey the damage of houses, household appliances and agricultural tools including vehicles, to arrange a team of repair service personnel and training to educate the public. Organizations, employees, insurers, and people affected by the ‘Podul’ storm can request help at all departments of the Ministry of Labour nationwide, or call the Ministry of Labour’s hotline at 1506, 24 hours a day. There are also departments under the Ministry of Labour with booths to publicize its mission and set up check points and repair services of electrical home appliances, motorcycles and small engines.
