Labour Minister Joins Conference Call with Ranong Deputy Provincial Governor to Drive Thailand Together and Improve the People’s Quality of Life to Reduce Inequality in the Area

         Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin joined a video conference together with the Deputy Provincial Governor of Ranong to accelerate the policy to drive Thailand together, solving the troubles of the people through integration with all sectors, aiming to improve the quality of life and reduce disparity, in alignment with the context in the area.

         On April 23, 2021, at 14.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin joined a video conference with Ranong. The Provincial Governor of Ranong assigned Deputy Provincial Governor of Ranong Mr. Somchit Khinduang and the committee to drive Thailand together in Ranong. The meeting discussed the committee’s actions in driving Thailand together and guidelines for the committee’s performance to drive Thailand together. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion. The Labour Minister said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, cares and seeks to improve the workforces’ quality of life. It aims to give policies to all sectors to drive problem-solving at the local level. It starts with urgent issues to achieve concrete and timely results. In the Ministry of Labour’s part, the Prime Minister assigned the Labour Minister to drive Thailand together at the provincial level for three provinces, namely Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Ranong.

         Mr. Suchart said that today, the meeting took the opportunity to represent the government, joining together to listen to the issues faced by the committee driving missions in Ranong, to jointly solve area-based problems comprehensively and completely. It aims to encourage people in the area to have a better quality of life in the future. “Ranong has approximately 130,000 workers, mostly agricultural workers. There are approximately 31,000 foreign workers who are authorized to work in Ranong and 6,000 people traveling to work on a daily or seasonal basis. The workers were affected by the Covid-19 situation, which caused the need to close checkpoints and prohibit foreign workers from moving in and out of the area. The Ministry of Labour is ready to help, take care and join in solving any problems faced in Ranong Province,” concluded the Labour Minister.
