Labour Minister Joins Forces with the “Repair, Create, and Happiness Center” Established by the DBD to Support Flood Victims in Songkhla

On December 22, 2024, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, paid a visit to the “Repair, Create, and Happiness” Center by the Department of Business Development,” which supported the people and workers affected by the recent flooding in Songkhla Province. Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Minister of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives joined the occasion. Mr. Decha Phrukphatthanarak, the Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, reported the objectives of establishing the “Repair, Create, and Happiness Center.” Mr. Chotinrin Koetsom, Governor of Songkhla Province, gave a welcome speech and reported on the disaster-affected areas of Songkhla Province. Civil servants and officials from the Ministry of Labour in Songkhla Province joined in giving a welcome at Paisarn Electronics, Hat Yai Branch (Khlong Wa), Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.

After the visit, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, said that he was pleased to visit Songkhla Province and have the opportunity to meet and give encouragement to the people during this difficult time. He assigned the Department of Skill Development to provide urgent support to the people and workers affected by natural disasters, especially floods in each affected province. In this instance, the Department of Skill Development, represented by the Songkhla Skill Development Institute 12, in collaboration with Songkhla Province, Phaisan Electronics Extra, PTTEP Energy Development Company Limited, PernChang-Zom.com, the Ratchaburi Electronics Club, the Ban Mo Technician Team led by Technician Maew, technicians from the Department of Skill Development from 14 southern provinces, educational personnel, and volunteer technicians, totaling over 300 people, provided services, inspections, and repairs for electrical appliances, occupational tools, and motorcycles for flood victims after the water receded from December 20 to 22, 2024 at Phaisan Electronics. In the event, electrical appliances, occupational tools, and motorcycles were returned to 50 people to use in their occupations and daily lives. This model was also used in provinces that faced flooding in the past, such as Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

“Songkhla Province has faced flooding from November 25 to December 16, 2024, affecting over 700,000 people in 16 districts. This operation will help with the burden of repairs, allowing people to save money and use this expense for their livelihood or as funding for their careers. When people face hardship, the Ministry of Labour is ready to support them through the difficult times,” said the Labour Minister.

Mr. Decha Phrukphatthanarak, the Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, continued that at present, 780 people have brought 2,492 electrical appliances and small engines for agriculture to be repaired, and 180 people have brought 180 motorcycles for repair, totaling 960 service users. The Director-General gave an additional thank you to Mr. Chaipan Chokpaisan, owner of Paisal Electronics, who supported the establishment of the “Repair, Create, and Happiness Center by the Department of Business Development,” without charging for any labour, spare parts, or equipment for repairs. In addition, food and drinking water were prepared for technicians and support staff who serviced the public on this occasion.
