The Labour Minister followed up on the case of the Thai interpreter at the Riyadh Labour Office, who became ill. The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour was assigned to send the family a basket to give morale.
On September 17, 2020, at 13.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha showed concerned about the Thai interpreter from the Labour Office in Saudi Arabia, who came back to stay in Thailand for treatment since September. Today, he assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat to send a vase of flowers and to visit the family of Mr. Mad Ma-min, the interpreter from the Labour Office in Saudi Arabia at the Rajavithi Hospital Medical Center Building. Mr. Mad Ma-min’s wife received the flower vase. On the same occasion, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin also telephoned Mr. Mad’s wife to ask about his symptoms and support the family and wish a speedy recovery.
Interpreter from the Labour Office in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Mad Ma-min, aged 54, is from Thai-Muslim origins, from Chachoengsao. He had two sons in Riyadh. He had previously been sick due to Covid-19 and spent more than a month in the ICU until he recovered. Doctors recently reported that the Covid-19 was no longer detected and requested that he return for treatment at Rajavithi Hospital on September 2. Overall, he is stable. The interpreter has worked in the Labor Office for over 20 years and has helped Thai workers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Lebanon.
“This Thai interpreter in Saudi Arabia went out to work to help Thai people who are sick to travel home and was successful in many cases but became ill himself. Therefore, I would like everyone to help each other, support him, and wish him a speedy recovery soon,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
