Content Description

On March 24, 2025, under the policy of Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour from the Ministry of Labour, the 5th Trai Thep Phithak Task Force (Eastern-Western Region), together with the security sector and local officials, inspected the construction site of a building without a number in Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, said that the operation was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Phanthep Omi, Deputy Head of Task Force 5, under the direction of Mr. Pichet Thongphan, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General. The inspection found three Thai workers and 55 foreign workers, divided into 52 Myanmar workers and 3 Cambodians. The 52 Myanmar workers did not have work permits. The officers, therefore, took action to arrest all of them according to the Royal Decree on the Management of Foreign Workers Employment B.E. 2560 on the charge of “being foreign workers working without permission” and are in the process of preparing an arrest record at Pattaya City Police Station.

Mr. Phiphat emphasized that Thailand relies on foreign workers in some business sectors, but working in Thailand must be within the framework of the law. Employers must not neglect their duties. If illegitimate employment is identified, with workers not having the necessary registration or proper permits, both the worker and the employer will be prosecuted. The work of the special task force will continue, adhering to the principles of prevention, suppression, and coordination in order for the management of foreign workers to be efficient, transparent, fair, and not affect the country’s security.

“I would like to remind all business establishments to promptly take correct action according to regulations, such as registering workers, applying for work permits, and taking care of the basic rights of employees as stipulated by law,” concluded Mr. Phiphat.
