Content Description

On November 12, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin sent 206 Thai workers to Suvarnabhumi Airport and gave them words of encouragement before traveling to work in the agricultural sector in Israel under the Thailand-Israel Cooperation on the Placement of Workers (TIC), generating an income of 48,073 Baht per person.

Mr. Suchart said that the Ministry of Labour had implemented the policy of Prime Minister in promoting Thai workers to work abroad. It focuses on the benefits and taking into account the safety of Thai workers. There is a transparent selection process from recruitment, interviews, contracting, and inspections from relevant departments, making it possible to bring income into the country continuously. Deployment of Thai workers to work in Israel started in June 2012. Each year, Thailand receives a quota of 5,000 people a year. As of February 2020, 40,082 Thai workers have traveled to work in Israel, generating 54,580 million Baht in income for the country. “The TIC program in Israel was done after Thailand was able to control the spread of Covid-19 well. The Israeli government notified the need for 2,000 Thai workers to work in the agricultural sector. The Department of Employment has started sending Thai workers to work since September 30, 2020, with 386 workers who have already traveled. Today, another 206 people will travel following the planned delivery. It is expected that 2,000 Thai workers will be deployed by January 2021. The workers receive a monthly minimum pre-tax salary of 5,300 Israeli Shekels or approximately 48,073 Baht per month (depending on the exchange rate). After the Covid-19 epidemic has been controlled in Thailand, the Ministry of Labor has sent 16,466 Thai workers overseas. The top five countries for deployment are Taiwan with 5,032 workers, Sweden with 3,189 workers, Finland with 2,319 workers, Japan with 2,107 workers, and Vietnam with 473 workers,” the Labour Minister said.

The Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Suchat Pornchaiwiseskul, said that all Thai workers who travel to work abroad would receive training before traveling. The training is with the Department of Employment, preparing the workers for a safe journey to ensure they receive appropriate compensation and are protected by law. They also facilitate applications to be members of the fund to help job seekers work abroad. Everyone has to buy a personal insurance policy for Covid-19 at a starting price of 199 Baht. For those interested in traveling to work in Israel, the Department of Employment will recruit job seekers to work in Israel’s agricultural sector under the 15th Thailand-Israel Cooperation on the Placement of Workers (TIC), November 23-27, 2020.
