The Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion at the Chatumongkol Room, 6th floor, Ministry of Labour.
Mr. Suchart said that Mr. Nattaphon Detketsarin, 41, is an employee who is a driver of Chokomorn Logistics Co., Ltd., a freight forwarding business located at No. 502/541 Soi Dechatungka 1, Dechatungka Road, Sikan Subdistrict, Don Mueang District, Bangkok. He was involved in an accident when a truck crashed into a concrete block of a construction site on Rama 2 Road near the bridge over Tha Chalom River, Samut Sakhon Province. The accident caused him to lose his right leg at knee level. The incident occurred on May 31, 2022. After the incident, the relatives of Mr. Nattaphon negotiated compensation for the accident with the contractor. They requested 500,000 Baht in compensation, but the contractor offered to pay only 200,000 Baht, resulting in an agreement that could not be reached. As a result, Mr. Nattaphon and his relatives made a claim on the Prime Minister’s Facebook page and to the Prime Minister’s Advisor as the Chairperson of the Committee on Facilitating Justice and Accelerating Government Operations, Mr. Peeraphan Salirathavibhak. Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha is concerned about the matter and followed up on speeding up assistance and support for harmed people, ensuring fairness.           Mr. Suchart continued that the Prime Minister had shown his care and support to Mr. Nattaphon and his family during this incident. He reiterated that the Ministry of Labour verifies the information to provide appropriate assistance. Therefore, the Labour Minister instructed the Social Security Office to verify the employee’s status to assist them in obtaining eligible benefits. The Bangkok Social Security Office Area 2 found that the accident happened while the employee was performing duties for the employer. Therefore, the employee will receive compensation from the Workmen’s Compensation Fund. Today, the employee received compensation for lack of income in case of medical leave and the loss of organs due to work as follows: Medical expenses of 50,000 Baht (paid to the hospital), compensation for lack of income in the case of medical leave, of 23,800 Baht, and compensation for the loss of organs, for the loss of his right leg and broken left leg, of 1,176,000 Baht, totaling 1,249,800 Baht.
“I want to encourage Mr. Nattaphon and his family to be strong. The government and the Ministry of Labour are concerned. Therefore, cooperation must be sought for establishments to consider the safety of work to prevent the loss of organs caused by accidents or accidents from work. In this case, the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office is ready to help insured employees receive their entitled benefits from the Compensation Fund promptly. This is in line with the government’s policy not to leave anyone behind, “concluded Mr. Suchart.
