Labour Minister Visits Nakhon Si Thammarat: Visiting a Rubberwood Processing Company, Emphasizes Care for Legal Thai and Burmese Workers, and Promotes Income Generation in the Area

On February 16, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, visited Nakhon Si Parawood Company Limited, located in Phrom Khiri District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Mr. Aree Krainara, the Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Phuchong Worasri, assigned to the Office of the Prime Minister and currently serving at the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Phumipat Mueanchan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pichet Thongphan, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mr. Suwat Chansuk, the Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Ms. Warin Chinwong, President of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Administrative Organization, executives of the Ministry of Labour, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province joined the visit to follow up on workforce operations and employee care, including foreign worker management, especially the legality of Burmese workers who are an essential part in the rubberwood processing industry of the province.

Minister Phiphat commended Nakhon Si Parawood Company Limited for giving importance to employee welfare, work safety, and employee rights, especially the provision of fair housing, welfare, and wages for all employees, including the legal employment of Burmese workers, which helps foreign workers have a better quality of life and employment stability.

In addition, the Ministry of Labour has emphasized boosting income for workers in the province by promoting the “One Sub-district, One Independent Career” project. The project encourages workers to generate income from multiple careers. At the same time, it also promotes community tourism to stimulate the local economy and create opportunities for workers and local people to have additional income from tourism.
The Ministry of Labour also emphasizes the role of labour volunteers and labour graduates, who act as mediators to help workers in the community access their worker rights, skills training, and career opportunities.

“The Ministry of Labour is ready to support legal Thai and foreign workers to have a better quality of life, stable income, and receive protection according to their rights. We also push to strengthen communities through careers and tourism, which will help the Nakhon Si Thammarat provincial economy to grow sustainably,” said the Minister.

In addition to visiting the company, there was also a meeting and discussion with employees, listening to their challenges and gathering suggestions to improve labour policies for greater efficiency.
