Labour Minister Visits Nonthaburi to Monitor Progress on Driving Thailand Together

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin visited Nonthaburi to accelerate policies to drive Thailand’s integration of all sectors to promote employment and create security for all workers, consistent with the local context.

          On December 16, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin chaired the meeting to follow up on the implementation of the Thai Steering Committee in Nonthaburi province and provide guidelines for the committees’ performance to drive Thailand together in Nonthaburi. The meeting took place at the main meeting room, 3rd floor, Building 1, Nonthaburi Municipality Office. Nonthaburi Provincial Governor Mr. Suchin Chaichumsak gave a welcoming and presented the topic of moving Thailand together, the province’s general condition, and progress in driving Thailand together, including obstacles, challenges, and suggestions from Nonthaburi. The approaches to drive Thailand together in Nonthaburi includes: 1) The health service centers for people with a special focus on the heart 2) Long Term Care, a medical device warehouse 3) Flood protection flap along the Chao Phraya River 4) Solving flood problems in 26 areas that have not received the budget and 5) Logistical development for water tourism. On the same occasion, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong, Advisory Board Members to the Labour Minister, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the event. The Labour Minister said that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, has given importance to driving problem-solving at the local level. It starts with the problems that are urgent to achieve concrete and timely results. In the Ministry of Labour, the Labour Minister has been assigned by the Prime Minister to act as a committee to drive Thailand together in Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan provinces.

          Mr. Suchart further spoke about visiting the Nonthaburi area today to follow up on the committee’s performance to drive Thailand together, provide guidelines for performing tasks, and acknowledge the province’s progress, problems, obstacles, and suggestions. The information will be used to coordinate with relevant agencies to drive Thailand together following the Ministry of Labour’s missions, including to promote employment at the local community level. Skill development initiatives include up-skill, re-skill, and learning new skills, according to the needs of all labour groups, and to ensure protection and ensure that workers, both formal and informal workers, receive benefits and ensure their life security.

          There are currently 960,776 people in the workforce in Nonthaburi province, including 942,289 employed persons, 18,487 unemployed persons, 493,858 people outside the workforce, 275,887 informal workers, and 132,319 authorized foreign workers of all nationalities. There are 19,557 organizations registered with the Social Security Office, with 351,090 insured persons under Section 33, 708,476 insured persons under Section 39, and 54,531 insured persons under Section 40. There are 166 companies that have used Section 75 comprising 37,396 employees, and campaigns have been conducted for insured persons to get a flu vaccine, totaling 14,494 people.
