Today (March 27, 2019), Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo alongside Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Suradej Waleeittikul and Director of the Department of Employment, Mrs. Petcharat Sinauy and committee visited Thai workers working in Japan in the project deploying Thai technical trainees in Japan through the International Manpower Development Organization, Japan (IM Japan). The committee gave gifts to boost the morale of Thai workers at the labour training center before work at IM Japan in Tokyo, Japan, with about 21 Thai workers who welcomed the committee.
Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo congratulated the Thai workers who had the opportunity join this training and gave a testimony saying, “Everyone is an important force of the country and is a representative of Thailand. I ask that you have intensive discipline, are determined to work hard, have discipline and sacrifice, be frugal, develop your technical and language skills, and comply with Japanese laws and culture. You must also maintain your health, do not interfere with drugs, intoxication, gambling and other vices. Use the opportunity to gather knowledge and work experience to further your career when returning to Thailand and plan the future at all times to become a manager in the future.”
Department of Employment, Ministry od Labour and IM Japan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the delivery of technical trainees for Thai people to practice professional work in Japan, through the IM Japan organization since April 1999. Later, the MOU was revised to comply with the laws of Japan and the latest issue was signed on December 19, 2017. At present, there are 8,644 Thai workers in Japan from the total number of trainees in Japan of 285,776 people. Technical trainees will practice for 1 year or 3 years and receive allowance/wage according to the conditions and laws of Japan. In the first month, trainees will receive an allowance of 80,000 Yen, whereby IM Japan is responsible for accommodation, water, electricity and insurance for the trainees. In the 2nd month to the 12th month or the 36th month depending on the 1 year or 3 years training period, trainees will not be paid less than the minimum wage imposed by Japanese law, and will be responsible for accommodation, food, telephone, personal expenses and utilities, including insurance premiums to government agencies. When the internship period is complete, trainees will receive a certificate and financial support for the occupation of 200,000 Yen and 600,000 Yen respectively, depending on the training duration. IM Japan is responsible for plane fares and training fees, and the cost of preparing documents before traveling.
“All trainees must attend training in Thailand at the Pathumthani Skill Development Institute 14 for 4 months and must be trained at the IM Japan Training Center for 4 weeks. Trainees must learn how to work while practicing in the workplace and understand work safety, especially learning the Japanese language, whereby trainees are tested again. If trainees do not pass the assessment, they will be sent back to Thailand, “said Pol.Gen. Adul.
In 2018, the Department of Employment deployed a total of 358 trainees to train in Japan in 12 batches.
