Labour Minister Visits Worker’s Rehabilitation Center in Chiang Mai

            Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti and the ministry’s executives visited the Worker’s Rehabilitation Center Region 3 in Chiang Mai. The center was opened by the Social Security Office to rehabilitate workers who had faced accidents whilst fulfilling duties, supporting the worker’s to better health and become self-sufficient.

 

 


         The Worker’s Rehabilitation Center Region 3 in Chiang Mai provides medical therapeutic treatment conducted by experts and professional training to equip the worker’s with necessary skills for work, so that they can return to self-sufficiency, such as sewing and welding. The center also caters to residents in highlands. At present, the center houses 79 workers, most of whom have lost mobility or limbs, working with them until they are able to find work. For workers still unable to find suitable work, the center has measures to continue helping them.
           During the visit, Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul gave words of encouragement saying, “I hope you stay strong during the rehabilitation process and learn new skills to open up opportunities once you leave the center. Many people have experienced great successes after leaving here, and I believe you can too.” The Labour Minister and visiting committee also observed Thai culinary and bakery training at the Skills Development Center 19 in Chaing Mai. Apart from culinary training, the center also provides language classes in many different languages.
