Labour Minister Worships MOL Sacred Objects and Gifts Souvenirs to Retirees on Occasion of the MOL 28th Anniversary

          On September 23, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin chaired presided over the ceremony and offered garlands to the Ministry of Labour’s sacred objects, consisting of Phra Phut Sutthitham Bophit, Phra Phut Chinnarat, San Por Pu Chai Mongkhon, and San Thao Mahaprom Thewarit. He also chaired the ceremony to pay respects in front of the portrait of His Majesty the King on the occasion of the Ministry of Labour’s anniversary in 2021. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Pornsak Charoenprasert, the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Ministry of Labour’s senior executives also joined the occasion at the Ministry of Labour’s area.
          From there, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the ceremony of giving souvenirs for retirees for 2021 at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The event was broadcasted live through the VDO Conference system and Facebook Live. Mr. Suchart said the Ministry of Labour was established in 1993 and has operated for 28 years. Since its establishment, the Ministry of Labour’s missions has changed, increasing its scope. Particularly in the 2021 fiscal year, the Ministry of Labour was faced with crises in many dimensions. The Covid-19 pandemic affected the world, including Thailand, which was impacted economically and socially, especially in the labour sector and business establishments. This was a challenge for the Ministry of Labour to solve the issues, maintain economic stability and build confidence for both Thai and foreign investors while maintaining employment to build morale for the workforce. The Ministry of Labour implemented measures on prevention, correction, and remedies in many areas, namely 1) Skill development by up-skilling, re-skilling, and enabling new skills to develop the workforces’ potential, in alignment with the situation and the labour market in the New Normal era. 2) It has promoted employment through the organization of the Job Expo Thailand 2020, with a million jobs for a million people. It has prepared job positions through the “Thai Mee Ngarn Tum” platform, deployed Thai workers to work abroad, managed foreign workers, and cared for workers’ quality of life. 3) On labour protection and solving problems, it has managed the Employee Welfare Fund and used the labour relations system to benefit workers and solve issues of unfair dismissal. 4) It has taken care of insured persons within the social security system by paying remedies, reducing contributions, providing proactive Covid-19 testing to insured persons in business establishments and worker camps, providing Covid-19 vaccinations for insured persons in Bangkok, and economic provinces. It has also established Hospitels to support insured persons who are ill with Covid-19 and implemented the Factory Sandbox project to immunize workers and build confidence to drive the economy in the manufacturing sector.
          Mr. Suchart said that its past performances have been successful. The success comes from all civil servants and officials under the Ministry of Labour, who is determined to work. They are considered quality personnel and deserve to be praised. On the occasion that government officials and permanent employees will retire this year, he expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the dedication and determination of the retired government officials who have contributed to the nation and the Ministry of Labour throughout their service. The good deeds are worthy of praise, deserve to be remembered, and be regarded as a model in performing duties for the next generation of civil servants and officers to use as a guideline for their work.
