The Labour Minister’s Advisor commenced a project to promote and support volunteer work operations in Bangkok. He also shared his admiration for volunteers for their determination to work for the Ministry of Labour despite not receiving compensation.
Today (July 17, 2020) at 09.00 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet chaired the commencement of a project to promote and support the operations of volunteer work in Bangkok. Expert on examination and evaluation, Ms. Sukanya Tammaya also participated in the opening ceremony at the Ratchavipha room, 2nd floor, Than Thip Building, Chaopraya Park Hotel, Bangkok. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet said that “Labour volunteers will perform tasks to assist the Ministry of Labour in various fields to achieve success. It is necessary to understand the Ministry of Labour’s mission. The volunteers are an important mechanism that drives the Ministry of Labour’s mission to the people in the community area. Therefore, there is the expectation that volunteers will bring knowledge and experience gained from exchanging learnings between the Bangkok labour volunteers at the coordinator level in Bangkok area, and staff of all departments and Social Security Offices at the local level, to drive the Ministry of Labour’s mission for sustainable efficiency, to meet the needs of the people and the community.”
In addition, the Ministry of Labour has foreseen the importance of joint integration of agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Bangkok, responsible for agencies for labour volunteer work, to share results in this seminar. This will develop an overview of labour volunteer work with agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Bangkok, to plan the operations and integrate labour missions, driving the Bangkok volunteer workforce towards concrete results in providing the workforce with a better quality of life and stability. The efforts will fulfill the purpose of the ministry as set forth together. The intention for participants of the seminar today was to create awareness of the mission of 5 agencies under the Ministry of Labour and guidelines for assigning Bangkok Labour Volunteers to proceed in providing labour services to people in the area, informational public relations, coordinate the needs of labour services in various fields, promote and prevent labour problems at the local level and store labour data. For the Bangkok labour volunteers to work following the Ministry of Labour’s mission, there is communication to create awareness among the people in the area, including the exchange of learning which can be applied to benefit oneself and volunteer work in the future.”
Finally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet thanked and appreciated the sacrifice of the Bangkok labour volunteers who are determined to work for the Ministry of Labour despite not receiving compensation.
The project had 351 participants in total, consisting of Bangkok labor volunteers in the area at the president level, district coordinators, president of the Bangkok taxi network, 69 taxi network coordinators, and field coordinators Bangkok. There were 200 staff from all departments under the Ministry of Labour, and 82 speakers, civil servants, officials, and observers.
