The Labour Minister visited and gave words of encouragement to workers in the workplace, and observed the robotics and automation learning center, following the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy.
On January 29, 2020, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul, the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General Mr. Tawat Benchatikul, the Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat and the Ministry of Labour executives traveled to Ubon Ratchathani, to listen to a briefing and visit to encourage workers at the RST Asia Pacific Limited Partnership, Muang, Ubon Ratchathani. Mr. Aran Anuphansawang, Managing Director of Ruam Sin Thai Group, the owner of the RST Robotics robot arm, which is a startup business in selling Yanmar tractors, combine harvesters, factory machinery, and agricultural machinery equipment in Ubon Ratchathani province, gave a welcoming. The company is in cooperation with Ubon Ratchathani Skill Development Institute 7, to provide training for personnel and vocational students in the form of a short course on “robot control in industrial applications.”
M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul and committee visited the robotics and automation learning center established in Ubon Ratchathani. The center addresses the Thailand 4.0 policy, which is the economic development model of the current government led by Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, who aims to develop an economy driven by innovation. At the same time, the products are manufactured by 100% Thai startups. In addition, problems at the SME level and educational institutions that lack a real understanding of using industrial robots are evident. If products are sold, there will be a shortage of personnel in machine operations and maintenance. The target group is vocational students and factory staff in training to use robotics and basic maintenance.
The Labour Minister also inspected the Ubon Ratchathani Social Security Office, observing the training course for skill improvement in tank repair and spray-painting.
At present, Ubon Ratchathani has a population of 1,874,548 people, with 908,834 people in the workforce. A total of 907,108 are employed, 644,149 are agricultural workers, and 262,959 are non-agricultural workers. There are 1,725 unemployed people and 453,313 who are not in the workforce. A total of 738,475 are informal workers, and 3,288 are foreign workers. There are 75,446 people insured under Section 33, 15,119 people under Section 39, 42,633 people under Section 40 and 219 labour volunteers.
