Labour Minister’s Advisor Meets Labour Graduates as Key to Driving MOL Missions in the South

          On November 27, 2019, at 09.00 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet and committee delivered policies and working guidelines of labour graduates in Pattani. Director from the Office of Inspection and Evaluation Ms. Pattraporn Samatrat, Pattani Labour Officer Mrs. Suchinda Boon-ae and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Pattani province, together with 195 labour graduates, welcomed the visiting committee Srinakara Room, 3rd floor, Southern View Hotel, Mueang, Pattani. Advisor to the Labour Minister emphasized the Ministry of Labour’s policy to create a quality workforce, import foreign workers under the MOU system, raise the level income for first-time workers, promote and develop Thai workers working abroad, establish social security systems and benefits, drive the promotion of work safety and protection for independent workers to have income, increase efficiency and resolve labor problems. It also focuses on establishing mechanisms for participation between public and private sectors, increasing the working potential of labour graduates and labour volunteers, and enhancing the level of service to people through electronic channels. Furthermore, the guidelines provide suggestions to adding value in the production and sales for career groups to the labour graduates in the area, to be able to have a career, stable income and a better quality of life.
          Pattani currently has 724,37 people, consisting of 307,217 people in the workforce, 301,782 employed workers, 3,921 unemployed workers, 1,513 people waiting for the season. There are 161,960 people out of the workforce, consisting of 57,175 household workers, 52,152 people studying, and 52,634 others. There are 1,472 establishments, 21,027 employees, 57,933 insured persons (cumulative), classified as 23,763 insurers under Article 33, 29,235 insurers under Article 40 and 4,935 insurers under Article 39. There were 180,796 informal workers in 2018, and foreign workers as of September 2019 totaled 12,292 people with 2,021 employers.
          On this occasion, Advisor to the Labour Minister and the committee also observed the exhibition and gave suggestions for creating value-added products for career groups of labour graduates in Pattani. The visit aimed to boost morale for the labour graduates who work in the area too.
