Advisor to the Labour Minister met with Labour Volunteers in Chiang Rai, honouring them as self-sacrificing volunteers driving the Ministry of Labour’s missions to people in local areas.
On December 3, 2019, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet presided over the project to train labour volunteers on drug prevention and operations as labour volunteers for the 2020 fiscal year. The meeting took place at the Phowadol Resort and Spa Chiang Rai, Rim Kok, Mueang Chiang Rai, Chiang Rai. Deputy Governor of Chiang Rai Mr. Pasadet Hongladarom gave a welcoming speech and Chiang Rai Provincial Labour Officer Mr. Chalermpol Niumsakul gave a report. The Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, along with heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour and Chiang Rai labour volunteers totaling 124 people, gave a welcoming. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak said that volunteers play an essential role in operations at all levels, in all areas, whether in public health development, community development, disaster prevention, and mitigation, protecting the environment, security, justice or labour. Each department appoints volunteers to help with all operations, and the volunteers are people with great sacrifice. As a volunteer, people serve the community by taking time out of their career or personal and family time. They play a crucial role in national development and are a vital force for work with both public and private organizations in helping the people who suffer.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak also praised the labour volunteers for having a volunteer spirit and sacrifice for the public. In working with the Ministry of Labour, the volunteers act as a medium for cooperation, helping to liaise with government agencies under the Ministry of Labour and people who experience labour problems in the community and society that they are involved in. The volunteers are always on the lookout for unfair labour practices, issues in using foreign workers in the local area, launching awareness campaigns and strengthening immunity in drug prevention for employees/employers in workplaces with less than 10 employees to be aware of drug problems. The volunteers also provide information/situations to the agencies under the Ministry of Labour for urgent cases to be resolved quickly.
“I encourage everyone to be determined, to study and exchange experiences from the speakers, and cooperate in various activities of training for self-improvement, both in labour missions and drug prevention in the workplace. Upon completion of the training, I ask that all participants apply the knowledge to their duties, which will benefit the people, villages, communities, and families more efficiently and effectively,” concluded Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak.
