The Labour Minister’s Advisor chaired the commencement of the Labour Volunteers Network Empowerment Project to integrate with the Ministry of Labour’s missions and the labour volunteer’s anti-drug project in Maha Sarakham province for 2020. The meeting took place at meeting room 401, Labour Office, Maha Sarakham, 4th Floor, Maha Sarakham Government Center, Ministry of Labour’s Office, Kaeng Loeng Chan, Mueang Maha Sarakham, Maha Sarakham.
On February 27, 2020, at 10.30 hours, Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet presided over the opening ceremony of the Labour Volunteers Network Empowerment Project to integrate with the Ministry of Labour’s missions and the labour volunteer’s anti-drug project in Maha Sarakham province for 2020. Maha Sarakham Provincial Labour Officer Ms. Wilaiwan Thiangdah reported the objectives of the event at the meeting room 401, Maha Sarakham Provincial Labour Office, 4th floor, Government Offices, Kaeng Loeng Chan, Mueang Maha Sarakham, Maha Sarakham. The Labour Minister’s Advisor said that volunteers are essential players in the operations in all areas, whether it is public health, community development, disaster prevention, and mitigation, protecting the environment, security, justice, or labour. Each department will appoint volunteers to help with all operations. It can be considered that volunteers are people with great sacrifice, as volunteers are people who sacrifice their time that should be spent as a career or time from their personal and family lives. They are essential people to the development of the country and a significant force to work with both government and private organizations to help people who are suffering. He further commended all labour volunteers, because being a volunteer requires public and generous spirit, by joining the Ministry of Labour and acting as a medium for cooperation and surveillance on unfair labour practices. Labour volunteers help liaise with government agencies under the Ministry of Labour and the people who experience labour issues in the community and society. They monitor unfair labour practices of using foreign workers in the area, launch awareness campaigns, and strengthen immunity in drug prevention among employees, in workplaces with less than ten employees, be aware of drug problems. They also give information about the current situation and event to the agencies under the Ministry of Labour prompting to resolve issues quickly.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet said that the meeting today aims to give participants an understanding of the driving force of the Ministry of Labour’s mission, as well as exchange experiences in the practice of labour volunteers and work on drug prevention and resolution. This will result in the development of operational guidelines in the same direction, to work to be done efficiently with maximum effectiveness. Upon completion of the training, participants are asked to apply their knowledge to work in their duties, to benefit the people, villages, communities, and families, as representatives of the Ministry of Labour at the sub-district level. At present, Maha Sarakham has 133 subdistrict labour volunteers covering 133 subdistricts.
