Ministry of Labor warns employers who deduct overtime wage as illegal

          Mr.Ananchai Uthaiwattanachep, Director General of the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare (HRC) revealed that the importance of caring for Thai workers and all foreign workers to ensure equal protection for all workers and access to legal rights. There are some misconceptions about the deduction of wages. The deduction of wages from employees for food, uniforms are illegal. In this regard, the Labor Protection Act 1998 prohibits employers from deducting wages, overtime pay, holiday work pay, and overtime pay on holiday. If the employer fails to do so, he or she will be guilty of an offense not exceeding six months, fine not exceeding one hundred thousand baht, or both. And ordered the labor inspectors to strictly enforce the law. If there is a violation, take legal action immediately.
