On March 21, 2019, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo chaired the signing ceremony of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Promotion of Employment by Providing Employment Services through the Job Box between the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Employment and Big C Supercenter PCL. The event took place at the Big C Extra Department Store, Rama 4 road, Klong Tan, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and the ministry’s senior executives also joined the event.
The Labour Minister said that the government has the policy to reduce social inequality and create opportunities and access to government services. The Ministry of Labour by the Department of Employment has promoted employment to the public by introducing the Job Box to provide services to job seekers. The service offers easier access to job search services and can match people to jobs, allowing job seekers to find work directly with fewer steps, time, documents and travel expenses. Job seekers can use their identification card (smart card) to find work and can specify job characteristics, area, company name and salary range, which will link the application data to companies immediately. Jobseekers can apply for more than 1 job and can choose their jobs of interest and apply with the employer directly.
The signing of the MOU today is another collaboration between the government and private sector with a common intention to encourage the public and state welfare cardholders to access job vacancies and reduce social inequality quickly. With this cooperation, the Department of Employment will install the Job Box at Big C department stores nationwide and maintain the services. Big C Supercenter PCL will support areas within Big C’s branches nationwide. Both parties agreed that the Department of Employment could install and provide Job Box services to the public, and support activities related to the promotion of employment.
In addition, the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Employment has also installed and provided Job Box services to the public, supporting activities related to employment promotion including inviting people to find work through the Job Box to gain access to job vacancies and get more job opportunities. There are currently 54,559 job vacancies in the Job Box, with 101 boxes installed in Big C’s nationwide from a total of 500 units; 14,181 people have already used the service.
