The Ministry of Labour, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, visited people who were affected by the Covid-19 virus outbreak at Khu Nai Kim 3 Community, Don Mueang, Bangkok. The emphasized the union of agencies in the area to survey and support, following the Ministry of Labour’s missions to provide employment, an income, and a better quality of life.
On July 24, 2020, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, visited the area to discuss, and inquire about the need for assistance from workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, at Khu Nai Kim 3 Community, Don Mueang, Bangkok. Permanent Secretary of Social Development and Human Security Mr. Porameth Vimolsri also joined the occasion. The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour said that due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, many companies were temporarily closed, as the state ordered closures, together with many companies that were affected by Covid-19 and became unable to continue the business. This caused some employees and workers to suffer from unemployment and have no income to support themselves and their families, making their lives difficult.
Mrs. Thienrat said that the visit today intended to meet, discuss, and inquire about the need for support from the government. The Ministry of Labour has integrated its agencies to help those affected by Covid-19 to overcome this crisis, such as finding employment, providing career guidance, getting a job to do at home, self-employment, professional training, skill development for self-employed workers, sharing knowledge about labour protection laws and recruitment or insured persons under Section 40 to create security.
Initially, the Ministry of Labour has assigned local agencies and labour volunteers to participate in activities to survey the needs of villagers in affected communities and support following the labour missions. It will also monitor progress periodically so that people who suffer and who are in trouble can receive immediate help in order to have a job, a career, an income and a better quality of life, after the Covid-19 situation begins to ease, in order to overcome this crisis together.
