MOL Awards Medalists from WorldSkills Kazan 2019

          On Friday, August 30, 2019, at the Grand Ballroom, the Emerald Hotel, Din Daeng, Bangkok, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul presided over the award ceremony for the 45th WorldSkills Kazan 2019, held between August 22-27, 2019, in Kazan, Russia.

 

 

         Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul said that from the participation of Thai youths in the 45th National Skills Competition in Kazan, Russia, the Thai youths won 2 bronze medals and 12 commendation medals, from 25 people competing in a total of 23 branches. Today, the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development (DSD) has organized a ceremony to present certificates and awards to the participants in this competition, to give morale to all dedicated young people creating excellent outcomes and fame for the nation. Each bronze medalist was awarded 124,000 Baht, and each commendation medalist was awarded 51,000 Baht. For all participants, the Provincial Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand granted 10,000 Baht each.
         Winning the medals in the competition is a success showcasing the talent and potential of the young generation, officially seen on the world stage. This is in line with the government’s 20-year national strategy under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, which focuses on the foundation of human resource development to drive the economy with innovation towards a Thailand 4.0. It also aligns with the workforce transformation policy of the Ministry of Labour which aims to prepare the workforce, receives technological changes, improves and develop labour following the changing economic and social challenges of the 21st century. The medals reflect the success of the integration between the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development and various departments, both from the public, private associations and professional organizations, that has supported the development of youth skills through the skills competition at the regional, national, and ASEAN levels, in order to select young people to compete at the international level to be successful and receive various awards.
         The Labour Minister congratulated the youths who achieved their victory in this competition. Their successes demonstrate the readiness in terms of skills, through discipline in training and commitment to developing oneself. For young people that did not win, it is not that they are not good at competing, as what the youth and their organizations will have received is valuable experiences that can be adapted for professional and working benefits, both now and in the future. Thus, the Labour Minister commended all 25 youths.
         Ms. Chatwarin Khlongnoi, a bronze medalist from the food and beverage service branch, said that she was happy to win the prize again. Previously, she won a gold medal in the same field from the Belt and Road International (BRISC2019) last May in Chongqing, China. She was excited to represent Thailand in this competition and overcame various obstacles in the competition to win the medal. Ms. Chatwarin was proud to use the national identity, which is a smile, and would like to apply the knowledge and experience gained to help train the next generation to come back to win prizes on the international stage again.
         Mr. Patcharapol Sukkong, another bronze medalist in the CNC machinery (milling machine) branch, revealed that during the competition, he was anxious as he missed many points and was up again skilled competitors from many other countries. After knowing that he won the medal, he was pleased. He said that if his knowledge and experience are useful to the juniors, he will be happy to share this in the future.
