On September 19, 2020, at 13.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Ministry of Labour’s Secretary-General Mr. Suthep Chitayavong to chair the project on improving the quality of life of the workforce and the development of the workplace, with the course on “leadership development and enhancing workforce happiness in the workplace.” The Chairman of the Council of Labour Development to Thailand, Mr. Manat Kosol gave a welcoming and Project Manager on enhancing the quality of life for the workforce and workplace development, Mr. Pakphum Suksai, reported on the objectives of the event. The Council of Labour Development to Thailand organized the session, together with the Social Security Network for Workers, with support from the Thai Health Promotion Foundation. The event took place at the Nakhon Nuengket Meeting Room, Suntara Wellness Resort and Spa Hotel, Muang, Chachoengsao.
The event’s objective was to empower and support the work processes of labour leaders and network organizations in driving and campaigning policies into action for enhancing the quality of life for the workforce. The event also aims to develop workplace activities to promote the prevention of the Covid-19 infection spread and to develop models and methods to reduce the gap in access to health services and social inequality through a process of cooperation for government agencies, employers or business operators, and labour organizations in the workplace. The objective is to also change workers’ health behaviours in terms of reducing health risk factors, increasing work efficiency, reducing costs, and health-related costs in the workplace. Participants included labour leaders and representatives of employers and employees from 22 companies and occupational safety officers, totaling 120 people.
